Independent Age is the national charity focused on improving the lives of people facing financial hardship in later life. Our helpline and advisers offer free, practical support to older people and with our grants programme, we support organisations working with older people across the UK.

Story

I'm going to be teaming up with a few colleagues at VoucherCodes.co.uk to take on the ride from London to Paris in order to raise money for Independent Age. The money will go towards helping the older generation learn how to use technology and stay in touch with their family in the ever changing technological world. Family is really important and everyone deserves a chance to be connected in a meaningful way.

Just over 5 million people over the age of 65 have never been online which amazes me because they'll probably never even see this! Nearly 4/5 of those people live alone. If they knew how to get online, then they could stay in touch with family on a regular basis.

The money raised will pay for computers and tablets for the members of Independent Age, and some of our team will be volunteering to carry out training sessions on using technology and getting connected.

If you'd like to help me reach my target of £500, then please hit that donate button. Any amount will be greatly appreciated because the older generation are awesome, and they deserve to be connected like us!

I'm not certain that I will make it all the way, but with every little donation, it shows your support and will help me get there! If you donate through JustGicing, they’ll send your money directly to the charity, so it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
