My story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I'm attempting to raise £5,000 for the Breast Cancer Care 12 Month Challenge. Whilst I've got the backing of Kings Manor school, who have offered to do a non-uniform day in aid of this cause, donating online will be fantastic way to help achieve the goal of $5000 by July 27th 2007.

In 2003, my mum, Maria, was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and endured a long year of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. She has completely recovered now, and her bravery has inspired me to raise these funds for Breast Cancer Care. Me and my mum raised £1333 for Breast Cancer Care in October 2004, through a disco and a line-dancing party. We had lots of fun planning and hosting the events, and I know this will be just as fun!

Donating through this website is simple, fast, and 100% secure. It is also the most effective way to place sponsors, as Breast Cancer Care will recieve the money faster, as it is directly sent. Selecting the option for Gift Aid when placing your donation means that 28% extra will be added in tax to your donation at no extra cost to you.

So please sponsor me now! Just like Tesco says - Every little helps!

Many thanks for your support.

Events So Far:
October 2nd 2006:

On october 2nd we did a charity leg wax in our 6th form common room on brave Tom Pearson, who willingly lost the hairs on his legs but raised a lot of money in the process. Thanks so much Tom you're a complete star! Thanks to all the people who took part helping with the organisation, and for those who videoed and took pictures for the yearbook, I hope you got good footage!

Thursday October 19th:
Just before the school broke up for half term we had a non-school uniform day. I saw lots of people wearing pink around the school, teachers included so it seemed to have gone very well. £45 was also raised through pin badge sales. Thank you as well to Dr Lyons Surgery at Shoreham Health Centre, who had an In The Pink day in their offices. Thanks to the school for raising £500!!!

Saturday, October 21st:
My auntie Sarah organised a darts tornament, charged £3 entry, with a £10 prize and a trophy for the winner. It was a fantastic night, and we had a lot of entrants. Everyone enjoyed themselves and thankfully the first mentioned forfeit of the winner streaking around the garden didn't apply. Congratulations to Jason, who won, and also to Dean who made it through to the final. Overall, we raised £160.

Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th October:
Members of the Wick Youth drama group and students from Kings Manor 6th Form participated in a DVD marathon where we watched the entire 2 series of Lost. It ended up spanning from 10am Monday morning until 8pm Tuesday night. It was lots of fun, with a lot of singing of the made up song 'in the country' in the middle of the night, a lot of Eddie Murphey quotes being repeated, and clearly establishing that "right, they're on an island..."

Thursday 26th October:
In the Shoreham Herald today! Page 12 check it out!

Thursday 16th November:
Thanks to the Drama department of Kings Manor 6th form who raised £33 through donation boxes at their exam!

Upcoming:

After Xmas:
The date isn't set for definate yet, but most likely after xmas we will be hosting a Womanless Fashion Show after school and college. Many male students and members of staff are signing up to strut their stuff in women's clothing. We're hoping to get some good commentary and some amazing theme songs for the 'models'.

???:
Another uncertain date, but we're thinking of holding a big quiz of we can get a venue arranged. It should bring in a lot of people and be a really fun night!

Spring:
Again, not a certain date secured, but a group (larger than I originally thought, as a lot of people are interested) of students from Kings Manor 6th Form are doing a sponsored walk when the weather clears up more. We're going to walk between Worthing Pier and Brighton Palace Pier in fancy dress.

If anyone else has any ideas on what I can do to raise money, please email me at sam_packer@hotmail.co.uk. Any help at all is much appreciated, as are donations. Thank you so much to all the people who have donated and helped to raise money, you're complete stars.

Thank yous:
Kings Manor Community College & 6th Form College, for selling pin badges and aiding through a non-school unifrom day; Dr Lyons Surgery, Shoreham Health Centre, for selling pin badges; The Gardiners Arms, Portslade, for selling pin badges; Students at Kings Manor 6th form for buying pin badges; Tom Pearson for willing (and painfully) losing the hairs on his legs;
