Flora London Marathon 2008 · 13 April 2008 ·

We’re the 10 million people living with arthritis in the UK. The carers, researchers and healthcare professionals. The family, friends and fundraisers. United by a clear vision: a future free from arthritis. One in which no one is limited by the pain, fatigue and isolation that arthritis can cause.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. Dig deep, get your wallets out and please sponsor me for the London marathon! Rheumatoid arthritis is a disease that affects 500,000 people in the UK alone, compared to 50,000 people who suffer from MS. It is chronic, degenerative and incurable. ARC is the only charity that is searching for a cure. In addition, they are a great charity that puts 98 pence of every pound donated to research. The work of ARC is personally very important to me as my wife, Joanne (pictured) has RA. I have never run a marathon before, not even close. I was undone by a combination of bravado and Guinness (not necessarily in that order). Since then I have given up smoking!, joined a gym!!! and have been pounding the highways and byways of London. I hit the 'wall' in the first week (at about 3 miles), have been injured and pursued by dogs. It is your donations that will keep me going. Cheers, Sam.
