The finish line!

Just finished in around four and a half hours! Ran past camels and oases then back into the bustling city. Exhausted but glad to be finished. Thanks everyone!

As many of you know, my mid-life crisis was to decide to run a marathon at 40, when I hadn't even owned a pair of trainers before 39! Well, I did it, raising over £1,000 for the Stroke Association at the London Marathon in 2006 in 4:46. I didn't think I had the "bug", but the lure of a weekend shopping in New York spurred me to complete a really gruelling 26 miles in 2009 in a little over 5 hours for the James Whale Kidney Cancer fund. Again, you were all so generous, and over £1,000 went to an excellent cause. I think I promised never to do it again. However...........

Well, I hope you are not suffering from donation fatigue, as my dream of running a marathon on every (temperate) Continent (Antartica doesn't really appeal!) is starting to look almost realistic! In a post-Christmas abberation, I decided to run the Marrakech Marathon (in a couple of weeks!). This time, I want to run for the wonderful Shooting Star Children's Hospice, our Mayor's chosen Charity for this year. Please visit their website if you need any motivation to donate - they certainly have given me plenty of motivation to pound the streets in training. Very last-minute, I know, so I need your donations urgently!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: the Children's Hospice will receive your money faster and, if youu are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you

So please dig deep and donate now.

Sam
