About the swim
The swim is approx 21nm from Shakespear beach in Dover to Cap Gris Nez in France, encountering strong tidal shifts , cold water and over 600 shipping movements and hundreds more crossings by ferry and Sea Cat every day making it one of the busiest and most dangerous shipping lanes in the world! Not to mention the jellyfish, seaweed and various other flotsam and jetsom, put this with having to do part of the swim in the dark and it makes for a huge mental and physical challenge.
I have been training through the winter in a pool and now in Dover Harbour every weekend with other aspiring and some very experienced open water and channel swimmers.
More individuals have made it to the summit of Mount Everest and been into Space than have conquered the English Channel, making this the biggest challenge of my life.
