I will be travelling to Ethiopia in November 2008 to help the Ethiopiaid charity Hope Enterprises.

In Addis Ababa, there is an estimated 60,000 children living rough on the dangerous streets of an impoverished city. Often without parents, they desperately look for food and shelter. Many are forced to beg, steal or prostitute themselves to get their next meal.

Hope feed and school 630 street children who are encouraged by dedicated project workers trawling doorways, bus stations and derelict hovels. The breakfast provides an incentive for attending informal classes in basic literacy and numeracy which are held after. Just £100 will provide street children with breakfast and schooling for an entire year.

The goal of the Street Childrens Breakfast is to enrol the children in a free formal education provided by Hope Enterprises while still supporting those who need to earn money to survive and support their family by providing part time study along with tools to make this possible (e.g. shoe shine kits)
