As some of you may know, last year I ran the Sahara marathon to raise money for Sandblast. Incredibly the 6 hours running across the sand in 35+ degree heat wasn't enough to put me off and I'm going back again this year. More suprisingly though is the fact that this time I've managed to persuade Eliza to join me!
.....
The Sahara Marathon is part of a week long event to raise money for the Saharawi refugees who live in camps in the Algerian Sahara after fleeing Western Sahara more than 25 years ago.
.....
We fly out to Tindouf, Algeria on the 22nd February and then drive in convoy to the Smara refugee camp. The camps look very much as you would imagine a refugee camp in the middle of the desert to look, a lot of corrugated iron and sand brick buildings. This will be our home for the week. We will live as guests of one of the Saharawi families, eating and sleeping with them in their tents and experiencing their life. No electricity, no running water, no luxuries. Hot during the day and cold at night.
.....
On the Monday we will then be driven out into the desert, dropped off and (all being well) we will run the 26 miles back to the camp!

These people live completely on aid and rely on events like this to raise money and awareness. Please support us, it doesn't matter how small your donation, just please donate something.

Thank you.
