Story

36 miles in 12 hours, across London...

Please can you help us achieve our fundraising goal. Staff at the Notting Hill office of Strutt and Parker walked 36 miles  non stop in 11.5 hrs, through the streets of London on Friday 3rd March 2017 in a bid to raise money for the Sebastian Coe Charitable Foundation, which is supporting Cancer Research UK, the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research.

We took in the sights and sounds of a huge cross section of our wonderful capital city,  including Canary Wharf to the east, Regent’s Park to the north, Portobello Road to the west, the London Eye to the south and everywhere else in between, whilst trying to maintain the pace, repair blisters, and stay awake!

The Sebastian Coe Charitable Foundation is raising funds to support Cancer Research UK's campaign for the Francis Crick Institute, a new state-of-the-art, biomedical research institute in the heart of London.

Cancer Research UK has pledged to raise £100 million to help complete the Crick, which will see more than 1,200 scientists coming together under one roof to understand the biology of major diseases, such as cancer, which pose the greatest threat to humanity.

The Crick is now one of the world’s most important research facilities dedicated to understanding why disease develops and to find ways to treat, diagnose and cure illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, stroke, infections and neurodegenerative diseases. Dedicated to research excellence, the institute will have the scale, vision and expertise to tackle these challenging scientific questions.

Sir Paul Nurse, Nobel Prize winner and Director of the Crick has said, "if we get this right, we will change the world."
