Story

Updated on Apr 23rd 2012 at 8:45 PM from the JustGiving API

For those that would still like to contribute to a great charity that haven't had the chance yet and to read my result page with the blisters I gained along the way please click on the link below and thank you in advance for your continued support - yes this is the last shout out ur be pleased with ;-) xxxx

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Results in!

So i managed to get myself through that finish line in 4hrs9mins and boy did i feel every last step by the end. Although i didnt get under 4 hrs i am pretty pleased with my result. The problem i found was that there was so many people you were constantly weaving in & out so really you are covering more mileage. Couldnt believe how many people there were, the crowd were just amazing. Going round you feel every emotion, really does test you physically & mentally. Got to mile 18 & my legs & feet were really starting to ache, felt like i was carrying stone blocks around with me. You go through a couple of tunnels on the way round, it was that point that i thought go on walk a bit no-one will know but luckily i didnt & looking back had i started to walk it would have been so much harder to get myself back plus i would regret it later. Have included for those who will sympathise the pain i went through by attaching photos of the blisters i saw on my feet when i crossed that line. I am so glad i did it though & feel i have achieved & experienced something so special and challenging that i will never forget - would i do it again, well when i finished i was like no way never again, but hey i didnt get that time i so wanted to get, so never say never!

A last thank you for the amazing charity Support Dogs that gave me this opportunity & you guys for sponsoring me and making the difference to so many people that are just not as lucky as say you and I and lastly for putting up with me and my training, friends & family you have been such a great support that i have really needed xxx

Showtime!

The months of training has all come to one day.....today! Weather looking good, got the gear on, having breakfast and beginning the day positively! So farewell page shall see you again soon for the update on how i got on!

1 Day to go!

OMG! So off to London this afternoon the majority of the packing has been done so feeling a little better in that department. Feeling excited but nervous at same time, think if i had done something like this before then maybe i'd feel a bit better but suppose its the unknown you just dont know what to expect but hey ho sure it will all come together in the end.....hope so!

2 Days to go!

All registered & sorted well i say that but dont feel that organised the words a little panicked spring to mind like, am i going to remember everything, eat OK, feel OK on the day, i feel a list is in order today & hopefully that will make things a lot clearer in my mind, then this evening do my final training before Sunday.

3 Days to go!

Off to Excel today to register my number to make it official in all. Take today as a rest day, my hip still doesnt feel 100% just hope on the day that it is fine, oh well not much i can do now.

4 Days to go!

Just looking outside the window and hoping that all the wind and rain wont be like that on Sunday my fingers are cross! Tonight going to just do some short sprints not much just to keep my legs awake and functioning.

5 Days to go!

Wow so close now, got that last long run in last night so today going to rest today. I did gain myself however a blood blister so can just imagine on Sunday that my feet will need some serious TLC afterwards.

6 Days to go!

Squeeze that last mid run in then the rest of the week just be a couple of short spurts.

7 Days to go!

OK so the shopping list has been made now just gotta go & get it. May do some speedwork later. Surprised how nice the weather has been thought the forecast said otherwise...bonus!

8 Days to go!

A Day of planning! With just over a week to go need to now really build up and base all next week on high carb food & make that shopping list. Goodbye caffeine see you soon!

9 Days to go!

TGIF Indeed! What a wipe out of a week and only been at work for 4 days! Tonight will be my last of the hill training hurray, that is one part of the training i really wont miss....farewell hill its been hard work throughout our relationship maybe if you were a bit flatter at times then perhaps we could work something out.

10 Days to go!

Having a nice rest day today, last nights ran felt very sluggish things just werent working well together.

11 Days to go!

Planning to go on a 10-12 mile run tonight, hope that left cheek doesnt give me jip! Must remember to do a proper stretch before and after think that is half my problem. Tried to find the biggest Jacket Potato I could find for my lunch...Carb me up baby!

12 Days to go!

OK so the nerves are beginning to creep in now. How time has flown past. I think back when i first started training back in November, how hard a 3 mile run is, saying to myself how on earth am i going to do 26.2miles! Through the snow, rain, wind & dark morning & evening runs to how i am feeling now, do you know what i am gonna do it & i am going to give it my best shot, i havent cut down on alcohol for nothing!!

So the breakdown & achievement of my training:

Apart from having pulled my left buttock muscle cheek, sore ankles at times, knees given a good pounding & blisters on my feet, i am hoping, praying & wishing i get across the finish line in under 4 hours.

My PB for 14 miles is 1hr 51mins and 19 miles in 2hrs 33mins.

They say the crowd are such a massive & motivational help adding to the experience!

With such a great atmosphere be great if you can come & be part of this amazing day & see my painful face as i cross the finish line!

Email me for the details.

Support Dogs charity i am running for is such a worthwile charity that helps change peoples lives for the better!

This amazing Charity trains dogs to assist people with Physical disabilities, people with Epilepsy and Children with Autism.

Please visit their website: www.support-dogs.org.uk

Support Dogs relies entirely on voluntary donations.

Thank you again for your generocity.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
