Adoption UK - National Adoption Week Skydive 2009 · 14 November 2009 ·

Adoption UK connect, inform and support adopted and other care experienced children, young people, adults and their families. We also campaign for lifelong support, alongside those whose lives are affected by adoption and care experience.

Story

The little dare-devils have done it! On Saturday 29th November, finally the rain stopped, albeit briefly to enable the skydive to go ahead. Take off from Swansea airport was on schedule at 1300 hours, the climb to 13,000 feet took approx 15 minutes, then out of the sky fell Sophie first, closely followed by Sarah. Freefalling for 1 minute, then parachuting down for a further 5 minutes, aerial acrobatics & loop-the-loops looking very impressive from ground level. Both landed elegantly, avoiding the numerous large puddles in the landing zone. Aerial & landing photos to follow....plus DVD! WELL DONE xxx

**PLEASE NOTE: THE DATE OF THE JUMP HAS CHANGED TO SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 21ST AS THE WEATHER ON THE 14TH IS EXTREMELY BAD IN SWANSEA (SEVERE GALES AND HEAVY RAIN). PLEASE KEEP THE DONATIONS COMING**

Hey everyone,

During National Adoption Week (Nov 9-15) we're going to be jumping out of a plane to raise funds for Adoption UK. We're not sure we'll be feeling this excited when we are stood bracing ourselves for the 10,000ft free fall jump but knowing that we'll be supporting thousands of adopted children and their families will make the sheer terror worthwhile.

But just so you know, Adoption UK is the only national charity run by and for adoptive parents. The charity’s aim is to provide and support a self-help network for adoptive parents to explore the unique social, emotional and developmental needs of adopted children and young people and their families. Through this network, Adoption UK also promotes effective learning practice, based on almost 40 years’ experience of adoptive parenting, which is integrated with current theories of trauma, attachment and development.

Your sponsorship can help the charity support families and their children in many, many ways and every little bit helps. It really is a good cause (see www.adoptionuk.org for more about the charity) and you really will be making a difference to the lives of others.
