TalkTalk are sponsoring Sarah (Senior Physiotherapist, Spire Hospital Bristol) and Steve (Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon, Bristol Royal Infirmary & Bristol Childrens' Hospital) to cycle the length of the country, Lands End to John O'Groats in aid of Great Western Air Ambulance - aiming to cover the 1000 miles in 9 days! During training we have had tears (sarah!), punctures (we now love our new Kevlar tyres), had to get rescued (twice - thanks mum & dad!) and blisters - not just on our feet....!
It's something that we and our friends and families hope we will never need, but the Great Western Air Ambulance can literally be the difference between life and death for the seriously injured or critically ill. It is one of the busiest in the country, expected to fly 800 missions in 2010. GWAA is entirely funded by charity, and costs around £1 million annually to remain in the air.
We hope you agree that this is a fantastic service for our region and by clicking below and donating, you can help us to keep G-SPHU airborne for those who may need it! Follow our progress as we use TalkTalk mobile broadband to blog our adventure at :-
