Story
Footprints Orphanage is based in the Shimba Hills in Kenya. The Orphanage was set up in 2010 by Kerry Watson who gave up her life in the UK to open an Orphanage in Kenya after witnessing the child poverty first hand whilst visiting Kenya.
Footprints Orphanage is a small UK Charity run solely by volunteers who share in Kerry’s vision to create a home that can provide some of the most vulnerable children with not only food, water and shelter but also love, hope and security. All of the money raised goes directly to the running and development costs of the Orphanage in Kenya and the wages of local people employed at the Orphanage. With no state funding for children's homes in Kenya it is entirely down to donations that Footprints Orphanage can continue to exist in changing the lives of children and helping them to build better futures for themselves.
Footprints now has its own school on site which has recently been opened up to local village children. By giving the children an education will encourage, motivate and lead them to become confident adults with opportunities that will lead to hope for the future.
With the money raised by your kind donations Footprints is hoping to build a further classroom to be able to accommodate additional children, they are currently looking for a more sustainable water source and installing further solar panels. It is hoping by expanding the current dormitories to be able to take in Kenya's most vulnerable Orphans, offering a caring environment, hope for the future and the safety and security every child deserves.
