Samaritan’s Purse UK has sent out an urgent request for Christian doctors and nurses to help them respond to the deadly cholera outbreak in Haiti.
More than 2,100 people have already died and over 18,000 have been hospitalised. UN officials fear as many as 200,000 people may be affected. Samaritan’s Purse has mounted an emergency medical response, treating patients in three Cholera Treatment Centres.
Sarah decided to volunteer. Dad (Jonathan) said he thought that was a great idea. Jonathan then thought that since it was a good idea what excuse did he have not to volunteer as well!
So both Sarah and Jonathan have nervously agreed to go to Haiti for 2 weeks 31 December 2010 to 15 January 2011. They are covering their own locum costs and taking unpaid leave and are happy to do this. Samaritan’s purse are covering the travel and accommodation costs.
We thought that some of our friends and family might want to support Samaritan’s purse on our behalf. The more costs are covered then the more other volunteers can be sent.
Costs to Samaritan's purse are £850 each - £1,700. It would be great if any of you could support the work in Haiti in this way.
Many thanks
Sarah and Jonathan
