Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. The Family Holiday Association was set up over 30 years ago by 2 relatives of mine, Joan and Patrick Laurance, after they had been given a holiday by friends at a particularly difficult time for them. They realised the enormous benefit a simple holiday made to their lives and they vowed to help others with breaks away from the home. Pat and Joan have worked tirelessly since then to raise money and have helped almost 25,000 disadvantaged families have much needed holidays. Sadly Patrick died suddenly earlier this year but Joan continues to work ceaselessly for the charity. I have recently become Chair of the North London Friends of the FHA as I recognise how lucky we are as a family to have wonderful holidays with all the benefits that they bring. I want to help give other families that opportunity too. Every year one in 3 families across the UK is not able to take an annual holiday and for thousands of families a simple day trip is beyond their means. Seven million adults and children miss out on a basic annual holiday because of poverty. Often it is those families that are struggling to cope in very difficult circumstances and most in need of a break that are unable to take one. The FHA is the only national charity in the UK dedicated to helping provide holidays to disadvantaged families. I know that your donation will help make a huge difference to someone's life. Sarah
