Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page!

1055 miles. Cycling. 15 days in a row... That's approx 71 miles cycling a day. (plus all those extra miles when I get lost!!)
That's a long way. And my bum isn't very padded!
And my thighs aren't particularly strong. In fact I'm a bit of a weakling. Well, when you compare my legs to the likes of what I call "real" cyclists.
I'm a runner really. Not a cyclist. Yes I like to cycle. I pootle my 4.5 miles each way into the office and back on my Brompton.
And occassionally I'll take the "big" bike out on a social weekend ride with Chris, ambling along at a leisurely pace.
But each time I return back to the comfort of my home and get on with my "normal" life.
Before thinking about Lands End - John O'Groats the most I'd cycled was about 35 miles. And even that was only once. And with a great big pub break in the middle of it for lunch.
So it's dawning on me that this isn't going to be an easy challenge. 71 miles per day.
But also... SOLO.
This means there's no one there to help me plan the route. No one to help me read the map. No SatNav! No one there to lend me a top if I get cold. No one to carry my things. No support crew. No one to fix the punctures or repair the chain. No one to tell me to speed up. Or help me make a decision about whether to push on or take a break.
Which is kinda scary!
Well it's kinda very scary really!!
But that's the big challenge of it. That's what will make it an even greater achievement.
Lands End in Cornwall, all the way to John O'Groats in Scotland. Crickey it even looks a bliddy long way on the map!
So... this is a plea for sponsorship. I've selected Breakthrough Breast Cancer as my charity. They believe in a future free from the fear of breast cancer. It would be good wouldn't it?
They research, campaigning and educate. I myself belong to their "Breakthrough Generations" study. It's the largest, most comprehensive scientific study into the causes of breast cancer and includes over 100,000 women from the UK.
It monitors us all for life. I hope that the learnings from the study and all the other great work that Breakthrough does will help eliminate Breast Cancer for good. Full stop.
Please can you sponsor me? I'd love to achieve £1055 - £1 for each mile I'll ride.
The minimum amount is £2 - that's all I ask from you.
Thank you so much :-)
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Breakthrough Breast Cancer gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
