Having run the New York City marathon last year and deciding that was my last full marathon(for now) I have decided to carry on running half marathons starting with Cardiff on October 17th in aid of the amazing charity Amser Justin Time www.amserjustintime.org This is a charity that is extremely dear to me. Please go to the website to read about the amazing work that they do.
The last time I had a proper chat with Justin was on Cowbridge Road East in Canton; it makes me laugh thinking about it as we were both like grumpy old men. Justin was feeling really unwell and was really frustrated as he didn’t know what was wrong and I had just had a major operation to save my life following the birth of my second child. We both laughed and said we would both be ok and out on the pop giving it large before we knew it. Unfortunately, for me, and for everyone that knew and loved Justin, this was not to be. I saw him a few times after that in the neighbourhood, text him and Shan a lot but never really got to spend quality time with him again, which still hurts.
Shan has such strength and poise and I feel lucky to know such a woman, she is an inspiration. This is why I hope to raise as much money as possible for this amazing charity. Shan has agreed to my pledge that as long as I raise £3000 I will pay for the race entry of £300 out of the money raised. I am obviously aiming to well exceed my £3000 target.
So please dig deep, this is for Justin and for people similar to him, (though there will never be anybody exactly like him), it is for all the beautiful people who are taken from us in the prime of their lives.
Mi wnes i rhedeg Marathon Efrog Newydd llynedd ac ar ol penderfynnu mai dyma'r marathon llawn olaf(am nawr) dw i'n mynd i rhedeg hanner marathonau yn dechrau gyda Caerdydd ar 17eg o Hydref i godi arian at Amser Justin Time www.amserjustintime.org gan fod yr elusen hon yn agos iawn at fy nghalon. Ewch i’r wefan i ddarllen am y gwaith aruthrol a gyflawnir ganddi.Y tro diwethaf i mi gael sgwrs iawn gyda Justin oedd ar y stryd yn Nhreganna ,ac rwy’n chwerthin wrth gofio pa mor rwgnachylyn yr oeddem ni’n dau yn swnio. Roedd Justin yn teimlo’n wirioneddol dost ond yn teimlo’n rhwystredig am na wyddai beth oedd o’i le arno, ac roeddwn i newydd gael triniaeth fawr a achubodd fy mywyd ar ôl genedigaeth fy ail blentyn. Roedden ni’n dau’n chwerthin ac yn cysuro’n gilydd y bydden ni mas ar y pop yn joio cyn pen dim. Yn anffodus i fi ac i bawb oedd yn adnabod a charu Justin, nid felly y bu. Mi welais i fe yn y gymdogaeth ambell waith, gyrru neges destun iddo fe a Shan, ond ches i ddim cyfle i dreulio amser gwerthfawr gydag e, sy’n siom o hyd.
Mae Shan mor gytbwys a chryf, rwy’n ei theimlo’n fraint i’w hadnabod; mae’n ysbrydoliaeth. Dyna pam yr ydw i’n gobeithio codi cymaint o arian â phosibl i’r elusen ryfeddol hon. Mae Shan wedi cytuno i’m haddewid, os byddaf yn codi £3,000, yn gallu talu’r £300 ffi mynediad i’r ras alllan o’r arian a godir.
Felly, os gwelwch yn dda, ewch yn ddwfn i’ch pocedi. Mae hwn ar gyfer Justin a phobl debyg iddo (er na fydd neb yn union fel Justin) na ddylent gael eu dwyn oddi arnom ym mlodau eu dyddiau.
