Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. After wittering on about it for over a year, I have finally bitten the bullet and have entered the London Triathlon which will take place on the 6th August 2005. I will be competing int he Sprint event which consists of a 750m swim followed by a 20km bike ride and topped off with a 5km run. Where the sprinting comes in I'm not yet sure.
I will be raising money for a wonderful charity caled SOS Children. It is based in Cambridge but is the largest international charity dedicated to orphaned and abandoned children. Children who are left alone through war, famine disaster and poverty and given permanent homes in SOS Children's villages, where they are looked after by a 'mother' until they are ready to lead independent lives. Why not take a look at their website http://www.soschildren.org to find out more about their work?
We are so fortunate to live where we do, and how we do. We all have concerns about our children's education, well-being and future, but we should spare a thought, and hopefully some cash, for those children who have nothing, and no-one. By sponsoring me in this event you will be helping to give lonely children a happier future.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: SOS Children's Villages will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
As the swim discipline takes place in open water, I will be required to wear a wetsuit. (That could be my biggest challenge - squeezing myself into one of those) As these cost in the region of £200, I would be grateful if some wonderful individual or company could sponsor one for me. I would gladly pose for local press (preferably radio) in it, and tell them just how fabulous you are. I would also replace that picture of a chap getting rather gingerly onto a bike, with a photo of me getting even more gingerly into a wetsuit. Can't say fairer than that now can I? Many thanks for your support. If you wish to contact me about anything to do with this event, please e-mail me: sarastriathlon@ntlworld.com I now also have a blog to keep you updated with how my training is going and other bits of waffle. Why not take a look? http://sarastriathlon.blogspot.com
