About the charity : Royal Academy of Dramatic Art Royal Academy of Dramatic Art
The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art is a founding affiliate of the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama. It was established in 1904 and has a world wide reputation for the quality of its training. RADA has a broad selection policy. It runs an ongoing fundraising appeal to Trusts, Foundations and philanthropic individuals in order to provide awards for those students who need additional financial assistance in order to complete the training on the full time courses. The contact time at RADA is high. Students work in excess of 36 hours per week which precludes their undertaking regular part time employment to supplement their income during term time. Students who are relocating to London for the first time are in a particularly vulnerable financial position as the full student loan does not cover the real costs of living in London. So too are students with a first degree who are ineligible for loans to pay the mandatory student fee or their term time living costs. All donations made to the Student Scholarship/Bursary funds at RADA are allocated to students in genuine financial need. By making a donation to RADA you are supporting the stars of tomorrow, today!

Personal message:

Welcome and thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

My name is Sara Vickers, 22, from Edinburgh . I am delighted to say I have been offered a place on RADA’s three year acting course. The offer came after surviving 4 testing but very enjoyable auditions. The hard work however, has only begun......

Due to the demands of training it is very difficult for students to undertake part time work. The course involves 8 hours worth of classes, Monday to Friday not including individual tuition and evening preparation. Furthermore as a graduate from Glasgow University I am unable to receive any loans or bursaries to help me pay for living costs or tuition fees.

Tuition fees each year are £3070. As I am relocating from living at home is not an option. So living costs are estimated at around £9,500 per academic year. In total, studying at RADA will cost £12,570 per year. My parents have kindly agreed to help me with half of my costs. That leaves me with about £6,000 to raise.

If you are able to offer some money, any amount, big or small, I would greatly appreciate it. Money donated on this site will go directly to RADA, which is a registered charity. RADA will dispense it in the form of meal or travel vouchers or money to me when I need it. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Royal Academy of Dramatic Art will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.

Sara x
