Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We did it!!
Typically and in true bank holiday fashion the weather was not kind!!
Making an early start the Sarsen team of 16 battled wind and rain which was particularly nasty at the start where we made our way up and over the very big Wansdyke hill. The hot bacon rolls and coffee were much needed by the time we arrived at All Cannings.
Onwards and upwards and we weren't giving in, all 16 battled to the end going up Redhorn hill then on to the ups and downs of Salisbury Plain.
There wasn't much wildlife to be seen even the sheep looked fed up and there were a few youngsters possibly on a scout challenge or similar who looked soggy and bedraggled as they passed us with their big ruck sacks. I don't think any of us were jealous at the thought of camping out for the night.
All of us arrived over the finish line welcomed by the others and glad to get in the warm and dry.
Didn't we do well and there is talk of doing it again next year!!
Unfortunately we didn't get to show off our T shirts as it was too cold (which were kindly donated) but we tried to show off our red socks (which were also kindly donated).
Thank you to everyone for their sponsorship and donations.

Gill, who is part of the Purchasing team at Rotork, felt inspired to arrange a challenge for her team. With this in mind we will be walking the Sarsen Trail on Sunday 2 May, that is 26 miles from Avebury to Stonehenge. Hopefully, the weather will be kind to us and we're sure to have lots of fun along the way !
Andy Moore (part of the team) has done the Sarsen Trail before and knowing that there were different levels of challenge, based on the length of the trail you wanted to walk, Gill felt more people could get involved. The whole trail amounts to 26 miles but there are stopping points along the way with shorter distances of 7, 11 or 15 miles although the team members are hoping to train to do the full 26 miles.
June Boulton at Rotork lost her son last year at the young age of 17 so Gill and the team are raising funds in memory of Jack. June has also encouraged a few extra team members to join the challenge.
The team have paid independently to enter the Sarsen Trail challenge and this amount of £280.00 will benefit the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.
Fundraising from the walk will be donated to CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young). CRY is a national charity that is dedicated to saving the lives of young people through screening, research and raising awareness.
