Story
Hi thanks for visiting my just giving page. I also have a which I'd love you to read, www.sashacanswim.wordpress.com so you can find out how I'm getting on with my challenge. This year I’m raising much needed funds for Changing Faces. They do fantastic work representing and supporting people with a disfigurement. Have a look at their website www.changingfaces.org.uk
I’m a fairly fearless and fit thirty something and the thought of hiking across the Himalayas or throwing myself out of a plane doesn’t actually scare me. I’ve taken part in challenges like this in the past and loved them, but this time there’s no lovely holiday involved, this time it’s personal!
I have 1 big fear in the world – Water. It’s time to face this fear, and what better reason than to raise funds for my favourite charity? So with the help of my long term personal trainer Adam Spencer from South West Personal Trainers www.southwestpersonaltrainers.com/ I’m donning my swimming cap and taking to the depths of Wells Leisure Centre swimming pool!
My aim is to swim 11 lengths front crawl (head under and everything) by July. I realise this probably sounds dead easy but think on……
- I probably haven’t been in a swimming pool or any water over ankle deep in 15 years
- I am petrified of putting my head under water
- I would never consider jumping in to even the shallow end of a pool.
- I can just about doggy paddle – but that’s all.
This is by far the most personally challenging thing I have ever considered doing, so please sponsor me. I have my first lesson booked and once underway with the challenge I’ll be giving regular updates which will hopefully include photos and maybe even some video! Every penny you donate will be going directly to Changing Faces, so I urge you to dig deep and help me support this fantastic cause.
For those of you who know me well please leave a message with your donation to show others, who might not realise the severity of my fear just how hard this is for me!
Thank you all so much – Sasha x
