In a moment of sheer silliness, I decided to sign up to the Tough Mudder challenge (http://toughmudder.com/) in April of this year and will be competing on behalf of our own STORK APPEAL.

If you have never heard of Tough Mudder, it is essentially a 12 mile obstacle course, involving running through mud, crawling underneath barbed wire, wading throgh ice, doing monkey bars, climbing walls, and so on... Labour ward is therefore the ideal place to prepare!

Now a little bit about the STORK APPEAL...

At the West Middlesex University Hospital, our NHS budget only provides us with the basic essentials for our maternity services and we are therefore aiming to raise £100,000 through the Stork Appeal.

Donations to the Stork Appeal will allow us to provide the very best care and facilities for our community. The kind of things that donations will help to deliver include practical elements such as birth aids, as well as the chance to create a more homely and calm environment by setting up improved relaxation areas and funding paintings and CD players for rooms.

We want to be able to give women more choice during their pregnancy and make the experience of birth as private, comfortable and peaceful as possible for happier and healthier mothers and babies.
