NCO is the only orchestral learning programme for younger children across the UK. We give children their first experience of the joy of orchestral playing and help them to realise their full creative potential. We place children at the centre, and empower them to be the very best they can be.

Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

Both Jamie (clarinet) and I (flute) have been in the National Children's Orchestra and are now retired. Not only is it a fun memorable experience but it also opens up opportunities for hundreds of talented children who would never normally have the chance to play in a full symphony orchestra.

Jamie and I had an amazing time at the courses and were able to perform in fabulous concert venues around the country. Unfortunately the NCO's very existence is under threat due to lack of funds and so we have decided to try and raise some money to help keep it going.

We held a concert on Saturday October 11th 2008, 7pm - 9.30pm in Delamere Park Club house featuring young musicians (current & retired) from the NCO who live in Cheshire.  We raised £533 and everyone had a great time.

Young musicians from the NCO played at the Groves Bandstand in Chester on Saturday 20th September 2008 2pm-6pm we collected £265 from passersby and got £50 from the council for going to play!

On Monday 22nd December 2008 we played in the Grosvenor Shopping Mall, Chester from 10.30am- 4pm with other current & retired NCO musicians from our area (Catriona Baker- Viola, Michael Blayney - Violin/Sax, Jamie Spencer - Sax, Emma Spencer - Flute). We collected £325 from passersby!

We have now reached our target of £1500 and want to thank all the eople who donated on this webpage and out in the locality. We would still be grateful for further donations as the NCO financial situation is an ongoing issue. It takes just a few minutes,so why wait? Help NCO now!!!

Donating through justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: National Children's Orchestra of Great Britain gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

On Saturday August 2nd 2008 Jamie & I played at the Groves Bandstand in Chester and collected  £216.19 from the audience & passersby! With the fee of £50 from Chester City council we have raised £266.19.
