London's Air Ambulance Abseil · 19 June 2015

When patients in London suffer life-threatening injury, only our team can provide them with the help they need. With your support, we can perform complex procedures to save lives where others can’t. We can get there in time to make a difference and provide hope for the patient and their loved ones.

Story

6 months ago a policeman came into our work and told us our friend and colleague Vicky had been in a near fatal accident. She had been knocked off of her bike by a skip lorry, only minutes away from the office. Her injuries were life threatening but thankfully, her life was saved by the incredible work of London’s Air Ambulance. Vicky was given a pioneering treatment called REBOA that helped to control her blood loss. This wouldn't have been possible without LAA.

Vicky, her family and all her friends are forever be in debt to the heroes from LAA for their reactivity, skill and precision. Currently there is only 1 helicopter serving 10 million people. I would like to do what I can to help contribute to getting a second LAA helicopter up in the air.

Therefore on Friday 19th June, I and three more colleagues from Clinic, will be abseiling from the top of the helipad at the Royal London hospital in Whitechapel (the same hospital Vicky was treated in). The Helipad is 17 storeys high or in other words a whole 284ft off of the ground! The more money we can raise, the braver we will feel. Please help us to get down those 17 storeys so we can get another helicopter get up in the air.

If you get a chance please watch the video below to see why we are doing this.
