Story
Welcome to the fundraising page of Scamp the bear’s Kidscape mission.
If you’ve reached this page, then you’ll have heard of, and perhaps even met, little Scamp. He’s an ordinary bear, but he’s on a very special mission and he needs help from all of you!
A little background information:
Scamp the bear is supporting Kidscape (registered charity 326864), which was founded in 1984. The charity provides help and support to victims of child abuse and bullying.
Starting his journey at the hands of a young adult who was a victim of child abuse and severe bullying herself between the ages of 6 and 18, Scamp intends to travel the country, maybe even the world, taking with him an awareness of Kidscape and a request for your support.
Scamp’s journey, which started on 9th March 2008, gives him two years to promote an awareness of child abuse and bullying, and raise money for the Kidscape charity. He can’t do this alone though, he needs your help, and he has a few simple requests:
· Scamp asks that if you find him, you’ll consider making a donation to Kidscape, to help advance the brilliant work they do. Scamp appreciates any donation, of any size.
· If you do choose to donate, and if Scamp’s in your hands, he asks that you leave a comment with your donation, explaining where, how, and when you got him. This simple act allows everyone to keep track of Scamp on his travels.
· Scamp’s most important request is that you let him keep travelling. He’s a cute bear, granted, but he’s got a very important job, and he can’t do that job unless you let him. Please, if you’ve got Scamp, make sure that he can continue on his journey. Give him to a friend, leave him somewhere so that he’ll be found by someone else, or find another creative way of ensuring that the little bear carries on his big mission. Scamp, and his very important letter, need to keep moving.
Scamp doesn’t have to travel far. It would be great if he got to see a lot of the world, but if he stays in one city he won’t mind. All Scamp wants is to know that he’s passing an important message on to as many people as he can – and you can be the one to help him do that. If you can’t donate, all Scamp needs you to do is to play your part by sending him on to a new destination.
Children don’t often speak up, and with one child being killed every ten days at the hands of a parent, and six per cent of young people experiencing severe abuse or bullying at some point during their childhood, those children need to know that the support is out there. Scamp can be a little symbol of hope, a messenger, and he really can make a huge difference. Please respect the little bear, and his big mission, and take just one moment to consider his message.
Child abuse and bullying can both destroy lives, and whether you’re old or young, you’ve got the power to make a difference. Scamp is like any victim of bullying or abuse; he doesn’t have the voice to speak out about his thoughts, and he doesn’t have the power to make his journey alone, but with the help of other people he can achieve something great, and make a change.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this page, and thank you for supporting Scamp in his bid to raise money for Kidscape.
