The BPFA provides sporting and recreational facilities to the general public in the village of Blunham. One of our groups is a thriving cricket team of over 120 members providing adult and youth cricket in Bedfordshire. This year we have a fledgling youth football team joining us. We aim to improve our facilities this year by extending and refurbishing our pavilion.

Story

Once again those hardy fools at Blunham Cricket Club in Bedfordshire, are going to stand out in a field, day and night to set a new Guinness World Record. BCC had previously set a mark of 59 hours and 33 minutes in 2008. The record has subsequently been beaten by two teams in Sydney, Australia, and now sits at 67 hours.

Both teams will be playing in two tone kits of Pink and Purple, colours that are associated with promoting awareness of Breast and Testicular cancer. We are already making an appearance on Cricket AM on Sky 1 and Sky Sports 1, on Saturday August 7th plus a studio appearance by players in full colour kit on that date.

From 10:00 am Thursday 26th August to 7:00 pm Monday 30th August 2010, two teams of Cricket mad players will compete non-stop, to set a new record for a continuous game of Cricket of 105 hours in total. The reasons for doing this are two-fold:

1)Our Antipodean cousins need to be taught a lesson, so we plan to knock a big hole in the record and restore it to these shores!

2)We need some additional funds to complete our clubhouse as well to raise money and awareness for a number of charities, principally Breast Cancer Research, Orchid (Testicular, Penile and Prostate Cancer research) and St. Johns Hospice, Moggerhanger.

Please sponsor me to help raise funds for our chosen charities.

Many thanks

Scott
