Story
Last year mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. Fortunately, after several hard months, she beat it and she's still with us today. Sadly, our grandad – her father – recently passed away after his own short battle with cancer.
One of the things that made a big difference to our mum was the wig she was given after her head was shaved. It looked the business (and grandad loved it). So we wanted to give that to someone else.
The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs free of charge to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other illness.
You know where this is going. Once it's long enough we'll plait it and cut it off and send it to (hopefully) be made into a good-looking wig. I hope whoever ends up with my hair makes it look better than I usually do!
I realise it's not the hardiest of fundraising activities but we'll probably look ridiculous so you should all get a decent laugh out of it. As of October, I'm at about two-third's length (maybe three-quarters if I'm being generous). So I still have a few months to go! Time has not been kind to be underperforming follicles...
UPDATE: I've decided to run a half-marathon to boost our chances for making £1000. Anyone who knows me will know how much I like eating and loathe cardio, so this will obviously go well. I had to abandon the plan to run in September due to an unforeseen need to move flat! But I'm looking to reschedule, and might have an interesting idea in the offing...More details soon.
I chose Macmillan because of the impact cancer has had on my family and the job Macmillan do to make sure nobody faces cancer alone. Anything you can spare will be immensely gratefully received.
Thanks
Scott and Lewis
