BUPA Great North Run 2010 · 19 September 2010 ·

Action for M.E. works to end the ignorance, injustice and neglect people with M.E. experience. Our children's services offer support and information to children and young people with M.E., their families and carers carrying on the vital work of AYME, the Association of Young People with M.E.

Story

 UPDATE:
I completed the 2010 Great North Run in 1h55m01s

I`m lucky enough to be able to enter races and triathlons as I love running, cycling and swimming. Not everyone has the chance to enjoy an active lifestyle, even at a far younger age than me.  I`m a passionate supporter of  AYME (Association Of Young People With ME) and will be taking part in The Great North Run half marathon in September to raise funds for this very important charity.
ME is a painful, disabling and isolating illness affecting around 25,000 children and young people across the UK. Symptoms include extreme pain and fatigue in the muscles, weakened immune systems and  cognitive problems amongst other things. It leaves children and young people who should be bursting with life and energy lethargic and disabled. Sufferers are often unable to attend school or even study at home. Friends disappear; brothers and sisters find the illness hard to understand. Young sufferers lose their confidence, self-esteem and sense of purpose.
My daughter Kirsty suffers from ME, and AYME helped her enormously.
I really appreciate any donations you can make, and thank you for visiting my page.
