Feet First was founded in 2003 by Blackpool Victoria Hospital Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Steve Mannion. It's aims are to treat clubfoot in the developing world. It currently focuses its resources on two countries Malawi in Central Africa, and Laos in South East Asia. Please see the website for more information!

Story

My son was born with talipes (aka "clubfoot") in 2004. He was successfully treated by Mr Steve Mannion (consultant and orthopaedic surgeon) and his team of physiotherapists at Blackpool Victoria, by a non-surgical method called the Ponsetti method. Without this treatment, he could have faced years of orthopaedic surgery or even disability.

Mr Steve Mannion founded the charity Feet First Worldwide in 2004 (http://www.feetfirstworldwide.com/). The charity aims to educate and train local surgeons in the diagnosis and treatment of clubfoot in Malawi and Laos (and other countries). In Malawi alone, there are about 5000 cases of children with untreated clubfoot and about 500 children are born each year with this condition. With the help of Feet First, these children will receive the necessary treatment to prevent long term disability arising from this easily treatable condition.
