In 2006 Mick Phillpot and Dave Nealer (both past-Captains of West Hove Golf Club) walked the South Downs Way for charity. Four years on, and having now recovered, they feel inclined to take up this Olympian 100-mile challenge again.
So, in celebration of West Hove Golf Club’s Centenary this year, and the designation of the South Downs as the latest UK National Park, they would like you to sponsor their efforts by donating to the centenary year Club Captains’ charities.
Jan Seabrook (the Ladies’ Captain) has chosen the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) as her charity. They are, of course, a very large national charity which was founded over a century ago and their current vision is to end cruelty to children in the UK.
More information can be found on their website www.nspcc.org.uk but it is worth noting that the NSPCC relies on the general public for 85% of its funding and without this support the charity would ‘close’ within 6 months. Your support is therefore essential.
Dave and Mick will take eight days (aches, pains, blisters etc. permitting!) to complete their walk, so all we ask is that you spend just a minute or two to sponsor them and donate generously to this very worthy cause. Thank-you.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
