Chris Strickland is the skipper of Seahound V, a Scorpion 10 metre (30ft) Cabin RIB, fitted with twin Yanmar 315 hp diesel engines. Together with his team members John Puddifoot, Jan Falkowski and Gordon Compton, he has set five major world records in her that, to this day, have not been beaten.

The list of records include: London to Monte Carlo, London to Gibraltar, Gibraltar to Monte Carlo and Round Britain & Ireland. On the London to Monte Carlo Race, Chris and the team knocked over two hours off the standing record previously held by Hannis Bohinc in his 25 metre (80ft), 6000 hp superboat Record.

There is plenty more information about the RIB, the team and their remarkable achievements at http://www.seahoundracing.com

In June 2010, Jon Adlard will be joining Chris and his team for the Great British RIB Rally - see http://www.greatbritishribrally.co.uk - for a more leisurely cruise taking 12 days to circumnavigate Great Britain and Ireland’s beautiful coastline.

Their record Round Britain and Ireland circumnavigation took only 72 hours to cover the 1900 nautical miles and that included rounding the Outer Hebrides, St Kilda and the Shetland Isles, so they are looking forward to a holiday by comparison!  However, it will mean putting to sea in almost any weather to complete each leg. The guys could be at sea for 4 hours or 14 hours, depending on the length of the individual stage and the sea state.

They will be ‘camping’ on the West coast of Ireland, and stopping overnight for each of the 12 nights to help recover from this gruelling but potentially awesome adventure plus enjoying a beer or two, something Chris says is always sadly missed on the record runs!

Thanks for taking the time to visit Chris’s JustGiving page. Part of the ethos for running this Cruising Rally is to help raise funds for the Hospice Movement.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now to my chosen Hospice, Oakhaven in Lymington, Hampshire.
