Story
After meeting friends one evening in Preston, Lancashire, and them talking about walking the 'Camino' in Spain, I immediately researched the walk and became obsessed with undertaking it myself.
I got rid of my car and practiced walking distances by catching a train to Blackpool North railway station and then walking back to Preston via Lytham St Annes, Warton and Freckleton. Then came the 'Real Deal' - walking from St Jean Pied-du-Port, in the foothills of the French Pyrenees, walking over the Pyrenees into Spain and then across Spain to Santiago De Compostela.
I absolutely loved it and it was a privilege to do it!. This walk resulted in three under privileged youngsters having a weeks holiday in Lourdes, France and also their parents being able to have a breather in life whilst their children were away.
All that was 2yrs ago..... and now for something incredible.
I have decided with the college's permission to walk from the college gates to Santiago De Compostela in Spain (a total of 1500 miles). This will be something really special in my life and hopefully if all is well, and ends well, then some youngsters who are finding life really tough, will be able to relax and enjoy a moment in Lourdes. I Cant wait!!
