Story
I'm taking part in the DallaglioCycleSlam, a charity cycle ride around the Six nations stadiums during the 2010 tournament
Organised by Lawrence Dallaglio the former England international rugby player, the event is raising money for Sports relief and the Dallaglio foundation which was set up in memory of his mother who died of Cancer in 2008 and has already raised well over a million pounds; the major benefactors are Cancer charities and UK Cancer research received over £600,000 last year.
Every penny donated goes directly to the charities, the logistical costs of the event have been paid for by commercial sponsors and as such gift aid will be added to your donation. The route is 2,888 KM, ROME-PARIS-TWICKENHAM-CARDIFF-DUBLIN-EDINBURGH I’m riding my bike from TWICKENHAM to EDINBURGH over a period of 9 days. 23,000 people will be diagnosed with Cancer in the UK during the 29 days of the Dallaglio cycle slam, during my 1,000 KM ride across England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland 8,000 people will be diagnosed which equates to 1 person every 120 meters of my ride, sadly in the same period over 4,000 people will lose their fight with Cancer. Stats taken from the UK Cancer research website based on the latest figures available for 2006-7.
