Sebastian’s Action Trust supports children with life-limiting conditions and those who love them. We help families navigate the emotional and practical difficulties that come with caring for a child with complex needs and provide a place where families can connect, relax and make precious memories.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

I have decided to raise money for Sebastian Gates Action Trust. This charity has created the UK's only purpose-built facility that will offer respite holidays to very sick children and their families, enabling precious time to be spent together. This was a vision that Sebastian had, a boy who went to the same junior school as I did and passed away from cancer at the age of 9. The house was completed last year and the funds raised from my trek will sponsor families staying at the house and also offer practical support to parents who have children in treatment and need everyday support.

I am looking forward to trekking along the base of the Himalayas to reach Everest Base Camp and be able to see the highest mountain in the world! It will be both physically and mentally challenging as we will reach an altitude of just under 19,000 feet. The changing scenery along the way should be fantastic and it will also be interesting to experience the Sherpa way of life as we will be overnighting in Sherpa teahouses along the way.

I will let you know how I get on!
