Story

Peak2Peak - 70 Mile Handbike Ride - Ben Nevis, Fort William to Cairngorm Mountain, Aviemore

11th Sept 2010

I'll be completing this event as a fundraiser for the athletes of the British Disabled Ski Team.

Due to my disability I'll be using a Handbike. The ride runs from the foot of Ben Nevis, Fort William to the Cairngorms, Aviemore - 70miles and 2500ft of accent. I've never handbiked this distance before, It'll be a real challenge and also a perfect opportunity to rehabilitate my shoulder with the amount of training needed for the event (following my shoulder operation in May2010).

This will be the athletes main fundraising effort to go towards the new winter season 2010/11, the money raised will be vital to allow me and members of the Team to compete against the best in the World.

After an historic season 2009/10 for me, winning Britains first ever Alpine World cup Gold medal, I'll be back on snow indoors at Milton keynes Sno!Zone soon as the Physio allows me too?

The propsed 2010/11 season goes a little something like this;

Oct/Nov training on glaciers in Europe - Dec Europa Cup races - Jan World Championships then x-Games (mono-x) - Feb NorAm race and training in Kimberley, BC, Canada - Mar/Apr date tba, Meribel, British Championships. I'd also like to get on the Instructor ladder this year and develop my coaching skills to help future athletes/disabled skiers

Please dig deep and support your British Disabled Ski Team.
