I want to raise as much money as possible for The Alzheimer's Society, an organisation which helps support Alzheimer’s sufferers and their families. Unfortunately dementia effects 1 in every 3 people over the age of 65 in the UK. As we live longer this means that more and more of us will suffer from some form of dementia later in life and more of us will need the help of The Alzheimer’s society. They provide invaluable support across a wide range from direct help and advice for sufferers and carers, to research and work with professionals to help find treatments for dementia.  

When my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s my whole family was stunned. It has been a steep learning curve for all of us and I can appreciate now the massive impact news like this can have on a family. There is a long road ahead for us but The Alzheimer’s Society has been an invaluable source of help and advice throughout the process. I want to do what I can and with your help we can raise some money to help make peoples lives better as they come to terms with the changes dementia necessitates.  

The picture of the x-ray on my page shows the inside of my back. I shattered my lumbar 1 bone in September 1996 and with the help of many medical proffessionals and of course my mum I was able to continue to lead a healthy and active life. Our life on this planet is a gift and we need to make the most of our opportunities while they exist, by giving as much as you can you are helping me and others to create a better way of living for some of the most vulnerable people in society.
