Story

Tony "Semitone" Evans passed away after a short illness on 7 February 2012. He left behind his family and many friends who knew him through work, his holidays in Barbados and his music.

Tony was a self-taught jazz guitarist who spent several decades of his life playing gigs at weekends and in the evenings. Carpel tunnel syndrome prevented him from continuing later in life but he never lost his love of music and was immensely proud of his grandson Tom when he took up the guitar in 2010.

During Tony's gigging years he met several blind musicians who became good friends. He admired their musical ability and understood that music was more than just a hobby for them; it was a way of life that made their blindness irrelevant.

It therefore seems fitting to honour his memory by donating to a charity that helps blind children to discover the joy of musical performance that his friends valued so much.
