Seren was just 10 years old when she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in April 2008.  Since then she has undergone gruelling chemotherapy which has made her very unwell, caused her hair to fall out and left her unable to do a lot of the things that her friends take for granted. At a time when her only care should have the move to comprehensive school, she is fighting a potentially fatal illness and doing with grace and humour which leaves the adults around her in total awe.  During this time her mum, a single parent, has been supported hugely by the staff from LATCH.

LATCH is a voluntary organisation set up to support the special requirements of the children's oncology centre in Wales which is based at the Children's Hospital for Wales to help affected families and promote research in childhood cancer.

They are very much an ongoing charity as the needs of the children change constantly with new treatment techniques and new equipment being made available. Essential parents' accommodation is also provided. All this is dependent on the public's help to ensure that children with cancer and leukaemia in Wales obtain the best facilities available.

In order to aid Seren, and others like her, Helun and friends are holding the first Serenaid Ball at The Holiday Inn, Newport. This is a great venue with a private bar and free parking for all guests.  The evenings entertainment begins at 7.15pm and will include a fabulous four course dinner, entertainment from welsh band Cogent and one of the great local DJs, plus an Auction......all for £45

In addition the organiser has negotiated an overnight accommodation rate of £55 per room for up to 2 people sharing plus full welsh breakfast.
