Thank you for visiting our team fundraising page. Seven of us are going out in June for two weeks to Wobulenzi in central Uganda to do some work at a secondary school, the Wobulenzi Town Academy. This is the first trip like this for all of us.
Our Team includes:
Geoff Rapley
Tim Pitman
Ruth Pitman
Deb Savill
Hannah Savill
Becky Savill
Jon Colyer
New buildings are currently being built on donated land to relocate the school to allow it to expand to A' Level standard as well as giving the students much needed additional space.
So, some of the team will be building while others will be getting involved in the teaching and organising extra-curricular sports and arts activities. We will also be geting involved in a local primary school with a disabled unit as well as a local medical centre if time and resources allow. There is no shortage of work!
We are fundraising specifically to raise enough money to build and help equip the school's first science laboratory which they are extremely excited about. Up to now they have only been able to carry out experiments as and when the chemicals/materials have been given to the school.
ServeDirect (ServeUganda) has worked alongside the staff at this school for 4 years now and continues to be impressed at the achievements made there, bearing in mind that the school caters for some of Uganda's most disadvantaged children.
The team target figure of £10,500 includes all of our basic costs as well as enough to fund the building of the laboratory. ServeDirect has no paid staff or offices and so you can be confident that all of the money will go directly to what it has been given for.
So, please give generously to help us reach our target. Any monies raised above the target will be used for additional school materials. Thank you.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and secure. The charity receives the money quickly and Gift Aid tax relief will be added to your gift at no cost to yourselves. When donating online, please add a comment indicating which team member(s) your are supporting if applicable.
Alternatively, you could send us a cheque; please make out cheques to The Dugdale Charitable Trust (indicating who you are supporting if appropriate) and send them to:
Mr Nick Allen, Oakdene, Crookhill, Braishfield, Romsey SO51 0QB
If in doubt, please email Nick at nick_allen@uk.ibm.com
