Together for Short Lives is the UK charity for children and young people living with terminal and life-threatening illnesses. We are here to support families, every step of the way. We want families to have real choice in their child’s care throughout their life – no matter how short.
Through madness, insanity or just plain stupidity, the 4 of us have decided to take part in the SG Yorkshire Moors Challenge.
On the 29th / 30th May Tracey, Mary, Laura and Nicola will be donning our walking boots and heading off on the Lyke Wake Walk. We'll be walking 67km / 42 miles in 24 hours (hopefully!). We don't stop for sleep and we just keep walking and walking until we get to the end!
Why would we do this? You may well ask! Apart from the obvious challenge we are trying to raise money for a very worthwhile charity.
Children’s Hospices UK provides services to children and young people who are not expected to reach adulthood as a result of diseases such as muscular dystrophy, cystic fibrosis and cancer. An estimated 20,000 to 25,000 children will not reach life as an adult. Children’s Hospices UK strives to provide support to the children, young people and indeed the whole family who remain under huge emotional, physical and financial strain.
Their vision is for every child and young person who is not expected to reach adulthood and their family to have access to the highest standards of children's hospice care and support close to home and with your support, we would like to help them.
A big, BIG THANK YOU to all of you that sponsor us to help us reach our target. And as an added extra, we will promise to show you the blisters when we get back!
