Story
Dear Friends,
I will be attempting to run/walk/crawl 5 kilometers as part of the
Women's Hydro Active Challenge on Sunday 16 September 2007 in
Birmingham. I am doing this to raise awareness of a disease
affecting one in six men at the same time raising much needed funds (through your generosity) for Prostate Matters International charity.
The primary aim of this charity is to raise funds for research into
prostate diseases and for potential cures.
Approximately 2.5million men in the UK suffer from diseases of the prostate, which include Prostate Cancer, Benign Prostate Hyperplasia and Prostatitis.
Prostate Cancer, which accounts for 10,000 deaths in the UK per
year, is now the most common form of cancer in men. Each
year about 30,000 men in the UK are diagnosed with Prostate
Cancer. Globally Prostate Cancer accounts for 10% of all cancers
affecting men and in Europe a 100,000 new cases of Prostate
Cancer are diagnosed each year.
There is an urgent need for significant advances in more accurate
diagnosis to enable doctors to tailor the most appropriate
treatments to individual patients as well as develop new treatments.
I would like to thank you for visiting my fundraising page and hope
that having read a little about PMi, that you will dig deeeeep into
your pockets/bank account/mattress and sponsor me to help reach
my target for this worthy medical charity.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me. Prostate Matters International will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me and help me reach my target!
Thanking you for your generosity.
With best wishes
Shaheen
PS Why don’t you set up a page on Just Giving – do something outrageous and help raise much needed funds for PMi, to tackle a global disease affecting 1 in six men!
