Safaricom Lewa Marathon Challenge · 5 April 2009

The Lewa Wildlife Conservancy works as a catalyst for the conservation of wildlife and its habitat. It does this through the protection and management of species, the initiation and support of community conservation and development programmes, and the education of neighbouring areas in the value of wildlife.

Story

                  My half marathon challenge

                                                      Running Wild !

This marathon takes place in Northern Kenya, near Mount Kenya. Its gained a reputation for being hard - Running at 5,500 feet and on a dirt track its a long way away from the gentle banks of the Thames. (The route does pass a large marshy swamp full  of crocs thou).

Why do it ? Well its running 22 km through some of Africa's most breathtaking (literally!) scenery and The Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, by establishing and promoting community driven conservation projects, helps keep it that way.

If you get a moment please have a look at : http://www.tusk.org/ and/or  http://www.lewa.org/   Both are really interesting.

Many thanks for sponsoring me and supporting wildlife conservation !
