Zahra Trust · 11 October 2012

Since it was established in 2008, The Zahra Trust has provided millions of people across hundreds of communities throughout the world with relief and development aid. We aim to alleviate suffering, poverty and disadvantage as a result of conflict, natural disaster and discrimination.

Story

This January I will be walking 81KM over 3 days in Iraq, not only will I have to withstand the scorching desert sun during the day but I will also be freezing cold at night!!! More importantly I will be carrying your greetings to Imam Hussein (a.s) on an alam (flag), which people across the UK will get to sign personally during Muharram.  If you don’t get to see me, please post your greetings on www.facebook.com/drinkwaterthinkhussain page and I will write the message on the flag for you.  The flag will be carried from Imam Ali (a.s) haram from Najaf Al Ashraf to the shrine of Aba Abdillah (as) in Karbala inshallah, and we will place the alam inside the shrine of the Imam.

Being as unfit as I am this is a seemingly impossible feat, however with over 1.4 billion people across this world that are denied the basic right of water I have nothing to complain about!!!  This walk will help me to raise money for the amazing work that The Zahra Trust do, including providing crucial water wells in Afghanistan, a country where over half of the population does not have access to water.  Also The Zahra Trust provide essential aid to orphans in Iraq and have helped with disaster and relief in Pakistan.

Donations may also go towards other Zahra Trust Projects.

So please dig deep and in the name of Imam Hussain (a.s) pledge your support and donate generously!

Jazakallah Khair
