My name is Shah Nawaz Kassam Ali and I am participating in this year's 10km Partnership Walk and Run, which is going to be held on Sunday 30 August 2009 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

 

This Walk is an initiative of The Aga Khan Foundation. The AKF focuses on a small number of specific development problems by forming intellectual and financial partnerships with organisations sharing its objectives. Most Foundation grants are made to grassroots organisations testing innovative approaches in the field. With a small staff, a host of cooperating agencies and thousands of volunteers, the Foundation reaches out to vulnerable populations on four continents, irrespective of their race, religion, political persuasion or gender.

 

This year’s theme is “Make a difference with every step” and highlights the Aga Khan Foundation’s work in health, education and rural development. We have identified the following three projects which this year’s fundraising efforts will directly support:
 
Early Childhood Development Programme - “Jailoo” Kindergartens in the Kyrgyz Republic; 
Rice Farming Yield Improvement Programme in Madagascar;
Environmental Health Improvement Programme in Gujarat, India.

 

You can donate the money directly to the AKF by using your creditcard, or you might give it cash to me, which then will be sent to the AKF by a wire transfer. If you choose for the second option, you can get a form from me on which you will have to fill-out your personal details. These details will be kept confidential and will not be used for other purposes.
