Christie's - Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride 2009 · 12 July 2009 ·

Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can get the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with our support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. We are there when it matters.

Story

Hi Friends,

As part of our little team  of 8 pulled together from business networking, Tony & I completed the Manchester to Blackpool Christie's Cycle ride (61 miles) on Sunday July 12th....raising money for SUE RYDER CARE.

It took us 5hrs and 18 minutes - not exactly a record breaker, but hey, we finished it without incident or injury! Apparently almost 9000 riders started the trip: on recumbents, pairs on tandems, big hairy guys dressed as fairies, several disabled riders on handcycles, big & little kids and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The worst section was the last 2 or 3 miles through Lytham St Annes, where the wind was blowing in straight off the sea, and en masse, all cyclists slowed down almost to a crawl.

We chose to raise funds for Sue Ryder Care because we believe they offer an invaluable service to anyone suffering from any long-term illness. Having recently lost my Mum to Parkinson's Disease, and just a few weeks ago my close friend Brenda Wrench (Mum to our team member David) to cancer, this charity is very close to my heart.

I  know you're often asked for donations & your money can only stretch so far, but please, even if it's only £1, try to support us.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sue Ryder Care gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thanks

Sharon Byrne
