About my charity : The National Deaf Children's Society The National Deaf Children's Society
NDCS is the national charity dedicated to creating a world without barriers for deaf children and young people. We represent the interests and campaign for the rights of all deaf children and young people from birth to independence. NDCS believes that the family is the most important influence on a deaf child's development. NDCS supports the deaf child through the family as well as directly supporting deaf children and young people themselves.

My personal message:

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I am glad to see that my constant nagging, pestering and arm twisting has at least got you to view my page

So what's it all about?

I am doing something Great - literally!

In October 2008 I will be getting my lazy butt off the couch and doing something a little more energetic than what I am used to - I will be trekking the Great Wall of China!!!!
OK - if you can all just catch your breath again after almost falling off your chairs laughing I'll explain...

It's true. I will be walking approximately 5 hours a day for 5 consecutive days along the Great Wall.

Why? I hear you ask.

There are many reasons as to why I have decided to do this. The main being that NDCS are a fantastic charity that work very hard at providing help and support to families with deaf children. They give children with hearing impairments the opportunity to lead full and happy lives that would not otherwise be available to them, either through their deafness not being fully recognised or the proper support not being received.

Other reasons include trying to tackle my lack of fitness, my dreary same old day in day out life and I suppose most of all my battle with my conscience (pesky little guy altogether!). I believe in the "pay it forward" attitude to life and hope that the small things that I do to help others will be passed on so that many people can benefit from another person's kindness.

So please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The National Deaf Children's Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Please donate now!

Many thanks for your support.

Love,

Shauna
