I'm running the 2009 London Marathon for the Sarah Matheson Trust for Multiple System Atrophy and Parkinsons. Dad suffers from MSA and is now confined to a wheelchair. His spirit and cheerfulness, despite his adversity, are my inspiration. I ran for Parkinsons in 2006 and raised £4000. If I was able to raise about half that much this time I would be happy. I know from experience how painful the training and the run itself will be, but dad suffers every day and I haven't heard him complain once yet. The SMT is relatively unknown, but as MSA is a severe and quite rare kind of Parkinsons, I thought that this year I would try to raise funds for them as well as giving some to Parkinsons itself.
