Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Andy has completed his first full Marathon, the Windermere Marathon took place yesterday, Sunday 17th May. Andy completed the race in a superb time of 4hrs 14 mins and 39 seconds. The text I recieved said something about going for a well earned beer or ten after a very enjoyable race around the undulating roads skirting Lake Windermere. Congratulations Andy, fantastic effort.
The first leg of the fundraising is now complete. Myself, Dave, Rob and Gill took part in the Sheffield Half Marathon on Sunday 26th April (the picture was taken before, I daren't publish the ones from after). The sun was shining, the sky blue (worst luck) but everyone enjoyed the event and all gained personal best times (we've never run that far before). The results are as follows
1st place: Rob Mayo 2hrs 14 mins and 36 seconds
2nd place: Dave Slater 2hrs 19 mins and 53 seconds
3rd place: Gill Brailsford 2 hrs 27 mins and 42 seconds
4th place: Russ Windle 2 hrs 34 mins and 04 seconds
Andy is running on the 17th of May so there is still plenty of time to donate.
After recently discovering that someone close to us all is affected by the Juvenile form of Battens Disease, we as a group decided to help raise money for this worthy cause. Please take a moment to discover the fantastic work carried out by this charity by clicking on the following link www.bdfa-uk.org.uk.
Our team will be taking part in numerous running/jogging events in the coming months with the big one being the Sheffield Half Marathon for the majority of us, with Andy Woodrow competing in the Windermere Marathon on the 17th of May 2009.
Introducing the team:
Andy Woodrow caught the running bug 18 months ago. Andy has completed the Lincoln 10k, Percy Pud 10k, The Great North Run and the Sleaford Half Marathon to name but a few. Andy is keen to get his first official full marathon under his belt and raise some money for this worthy cause in the process.
Ben & Gill Brailsford have both been running for some time now, just for fun ??, both have competed in several events including the Rother Valley 10k, The Great Yorkshire Run and the Percy Pud 10k.
Ben - “The furthest I’ve run so far 10k at the Percy Pud, and that was just to get the pudding at the end!! Raising money for Battens Disease sounded a much better reason for pulling the trainers on, so hopefully I’ll improve on my best 10k time of 54 minutes. Aiming to complete Rother Valley 10k, Great Yorkshire Run and Percy Pud at least this year”
Gill – “I started doing 5k with race for life, moved on to 10k with the Percy Pud and Great Yorkshire run, and now I’m going for a real challenge with the Sheffield half marathon. I hope you’ll support me raising money for this great charity.”
Dave Slater & Rob Mayo have competed in several 10k events including the Rother Valley 10k, The Great Yorkshire Run and the Percy Pud 10k both posting sub 55 minute times.
Russ Windle - I have ran in several 10k runs over the past 12 months including the Rother Valley 10k, The British 10k, The Great Yorkshire Run and the Percy Pud 10k. My best time so far has been 59 minutes.
Thanks for visiting my fundraising site and taking the time to read about our team. Please, please help us raise as much as we can for the BDFA.
