My story

Thanks for visiting my Sheffield Half Marathon (26 April) fundraising page for Safe@last and other possible fundraising for good causes ...

I completed the Half Marathon in a time of 1 hour 47 minutes 37 seconds - 17 seconds slower than 4 years ago! (old age catching up) ... but a pleasing enough time, given that I seem to have had a reaction to a vaccination this past week.

Thanks to everyone who has supported so far, especially members of my family and parishoners of St Joseph's Dinnington and St Augustine's Kiveton (Thanks Stella)

John Cape £20, Gerald Capper £10, Stella Richardson £5, Margaret O'Rourke £5, Irene Raszyk £5, Pat and David Henstock £5, June Anderson £20, Mary Rice £10, Mary Beecroft and Billy £5, Chris and Brendan Handley £25, ...  and more donations to follow ...

Thanks Margaret and Sean for your £50 cheque for Safe@last.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Safe @ Last gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Claire, Katie and Jonny are planning to run also but I am sure that I will be someway behind all three of them!

If you would prefer to support Katie and Jonny (in the photograph) in their efforts to support a local new Children's Hospice - Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice please see:

SAFE@LAST is a local charity working with and on behalf of children and young people at risk through running away.

Or ... if you would prefer to support two primary schools and a children's home in/near Accra Ghana, where DV,  I will be working as a volunteer from 6 to 29 May ... watch this space ...

... the first aim over a period of time will be to raise £2000, £1000 to support my time there and £1000 towards the costs of completing the building of the second Primary school ... more to follow soon ...

Ghana Fundraising

I have already raised £1220 towards Ghana, (no deadline on this - I hope to create a separate justgiving page about this).

Thanks to Margaret and Sean for your cheque for £50.

Thanks to Michael for your cheque for £100.

Thanks to Chris and Roy for your cheque for £50.

... a number of friends have asked about the Ghanaian connection. Thomas and Tor gave their summer holiday in 2006 to work in Accra, then coincidentally, Thomas's school developed a link in Accra ... and of course in a wider African sense, Claire and Katie were born in Swaziland and Thomas spent most of his first six years in Swaziland.
