We completed our ride on the 19th July 2008. The goal was for us to complete 250 miles as a team of 5. Unfortunately we were one man down due to a tummy bug but the remaining four of us still managed to clock up the required 250 miles. 

We had our fair share of adversity with strong winds, heavy rain and even a hail shower but eventually the sun came out and we all had a very enjoyable day with plenty of stops for tea and cake. The scenery was just beautiful but let me tell you this part ofEssexis far from flat!. 

In terms of sponsorship I don’t know how to thank you all for your generosity. The main goal was to raise £1,000 for Sobel house hospice in Oxford where my brother died of brain cancer. We have easily achieved this goal and we have about £300 over to give to Marie Curie Cancer care who organised the event. 

As always with these events the fun bit is participating but the whole thing depends on those people who kindly offer sponsorship and support in many ways to make the whole thing possible.

Matt, having only just recovered from a broken wrist, still managed 50 miles on his rather heavy mountain bike.  As he put it if this was a grand prix he was driving a milk float!

Jane Edwards for being such a fun training partner, getting all her friends to sponsor us and keeping Matt company on the 50 mile course.

Phil for keeping me company on the 75 mile course and putting up with another of my hair brain schemes.

Mum and Dad for providing me with a lovely new bike.

The Enright family for inspiring us with their London to Paris ride last year for the Brisitsh Legion. (Not that we would be daft enough to try that) and for lending Phil a racing bike so he could keep up with Jane, Matt and I!
