Flora London Marathon 2008 · 13 April 2008 ·
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Why are you reading this letter? Why am I plodding round the country lanes in winter to train for the London Marathon?
The reason is, two years ago I received that devastating news that Sheila my wife had breast cancer. Over the years practicing as a surgeon I have counselled many patients, and their families, when an diagnosis breast cancer has been made but had never fully appreciated the profound effects that the disease and its management has on patient, family and friends.
Breast cancer is not an observer of social class, age or fame and is a potential silent menace to all women and in rare case to men. In 2004 there were 44,659 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed in the UK: That is 1 in every 9 women!10, 295 women and 53 men died from breast cancer in 2004.
Please help and contribute to this Breast Cancer charity and support the research that has been so valuable in increasing the survival rates in this devastating disease.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Breast Cancer Campaign will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Thankyou for your support. Sheila and John Fairclough
